Brief Description
Tan oval shallow basket
Description
Tan oval shallow basket. Constructed of open coiled sweetgrass sewn together with 1/4” wide palmetto stem fiber. Flat base and almost straight sides. Sewing is diagonal and goes from the bottom right to the top left. The fiber is stitched through a few strands of the lower coil and is wrapped around the upper coil. The lacing creates vertical lines on the sides and base of the basket approximately 1/2” apart. The rim is just the top coil. The top coil concludes with a gentle taper over several inches that produces an almost seamless ending.
