The Ostroms built a cabin on the south shore in 1967. When in residence, they burned wood for heat, used a propane tank to provide fuel for cooking, and had no electricity. The cabin had one main room with a kitchen, a bathroom, and a sleeping loft. A friend who visited the cabin also described two “cubbies” on either side of the cabin where each worked on their writing. Elinor preferred a manual typewriter. Vincent always wrote with pen and paper.
